Still Life, The Material Pleasures.

A series of metaphorical works.

A celebration of material pleasures such as food and wine.

These detailed 20 x 20cm; Oil on canvas. Observations offer me colours and textures to utilize while exploring a variety of religious and mythical symbols. Apples may signify temptation and knowledge. Grapes the themes of pleasure and lust. Pomegranates are associated with Persephone, the Greek goddess of spring and queen of the underworld. The paintings may infer warning of the ephemerality of these pleasures.

Capturing Blooms

A series of compositions exploring the beauty, colours and forms found in flowers.

Flowers contain objective beauty, attracting us with their vivid colours, soft curves, and symmetrical forms. A single bloom can be a symbol of sensuality, represent purity; promiscuity, love or hardship. The intention of my artwork is to freeze time and grant flowers eternal life.
